The I and the Me and the My and the We are in control and want to “impress the world” through materialistic things and blings and stuff in general.
Why break the bond of Self? I have become quite attached to the self that I have become. And therein, my friend, is exactly why – because you have become too attached to the I, the ego. It is comfortable to remain in bondage because we already know more often than not what the results of any action will be. Why? Because we continue to do the same things over and over again, sometimes even expecting different results. Actually, probably not expecting them as much as hoping. Almost as if we half-expect some kind of Divine intervention to come along and provide us with different results or outcomes. DOH! That is another reason why, when we are comfortable in our own stuff, we have a tendency to become complacent and not even challenge anything that comes along. It is easier to just agree with everyone and get along. Never mind that I have my own values and ideals, no one is probably interested in them anyway. Sound familiar? My condolences if it does. However, I have been there, done that and I am here to tell you that you do not have to live that way any longer. With just a little bit of effort, you will see that there is indeed a better way to live and once you taste it, you won’t mind putting forth whatever effort it takes to break loose.
Why? If for no other reason than you owe it to your Self and the Creator to be all you can be, to use the gifts that have been bestowed upon you. And if that isn’t a good enough reason, how about the fact that you can have a much better, fuller, more exciting life than the one you are now experiencing?
